About Me
Hi, I’m Lauren, and I am a law student and engineer beneath the sun, and a writer, photographer, and cook once the light fades. Curiosity, I've found, tends to spill past whatever edges you give it. The same curiosity that pulls me into legal research is the thing that keeps me in the kitchen at midnight trying to reverse-engineer a recipe. My interests have always had a gift for finding each other.
For years my words, recipes, and photographs lived quietly tucked away in notebooks, camera rolls, and flour-dusted countertops until a dear friend planted a small seed of courage, and I began writing in secret on a private Substack. What started as a gentle experiment slowly unfurled into something more. Two publications bloomed, Essays Written and Recipes Written, and suddenly the pieces of me wanted a real home.
This website is that home. A living garden where my different selves can grow side by side, season by season.
I have always preferred being behind the lens rather than in front of it. Sharing still feels like stepping into the light without the armor of solitude. But I’m learning that perfectionism is just fear wearing a fancy dress. So I’m doing it anyway! Because the only way these little seeds ever reach the right soil is if they first leave my hands. This is me: writing, cooking, capturing light, and offering all of it to those with a curious spirit.
Thank you for wandering through. May something here feel like home to you, too.
...and, cheers to doing the thing anyway, because as my mom has told me since I was little, "You can do anything if you learn how to fly." ✨
